Graham Swordfish Watches And Their Origin

Remembered as the “father of the chronograph”, George Graham also created other things such as the mercury pendulum, the 1st wall clock chronograph and the dead beat cylinder escapement. Nowadays Graham is a contemporary watch brand that dedicates itself to mechanical arts enthusiasts. These “wrist machines” as they are known, are made by the Swiss whilst having the backing of a quality British brand name.

Graham watches are reworking and rethinking the core meaning of a mechanical sports watch. The designs are bold with hard military themes and are made to be noticed. Grahams appearance just over a couple of years ago has resulted in the creation of two of the most iconic watches to be produced in recent times. First to arrive was the Graham Chronofighter.

GRAHAM CHRONOFIGHTER Founder and CEO, Eric Loth looked back to the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Particularly at the British RAF bombers who wore similar preceision time keepers strapped to their wrists. In order for the bombs to be dropped precisely it was critical that they were so at accurate, pre-determined intervals. The huge trigger mechanisms were added to the chronograpghs they wore so that they could still be controlled with gloved hands.

One of the main features on the Graham Chronofighter is the huge trigger mecanism which when pressed activates the co-axial chronograph pusher that is set in the watch crown. The watches chronograph can be reset to zero by using a pusher above the trigger.

With the Chronofighter Oversized Commando watch Graham has really pushed the boundary with the quality materials used by using carbon fibre, titanium and ceramic in the build. The key factor is not solely in the materials used but in the manner they are used, for example, the use of ceramic for the clasp is because of the wear this part sustains. The use of titanium for the case is to keep it lightweight. To maximise the resilience of the bezel and crown areas forged carbon and steel are the materials used.

Graham Swordfish Grillo Alarm GMT
This watch has the first optical big date. This is the new model of the Swordfish design that took the watch industry by storm in 2005.

Whilst maintaining its dipping lugs, intricately built case and skillfully textured crowns, this new model sets itself apart with its single eye to magnify the date significantly, leaving more than enough space for the GMT function and the new alarm function.
